Murals…

With many years experience, painting murals is Els’s happy place… a paint brush in hand, a hot coffee and a client brief.

From giant winter magical interactive woodlands to huge 21meter ‘under the river’ naive scenes or maybe a mini ‘pop your head through board’. Favourite characters or just something magical and happy.

Painting large corporate logos and artworks can totally change your space. If you have an idea, get in touch. After agreeing your initial sketch artwork, Els will grab her messy dungarees, piles of paint and create magic on your walls…

Els is based in sunny Devon but is happy to travel for any exciting bookings.

No space or wall should be boring!

Below are a few resent examples and testimonials from clients.

Ribeye boats

Dartmouth - Devon

Brief…

To create a bright branded striking image to include their logo and key icons. Originally a slatted plain grey wooden wall, this area needed brighting ready for their winter ‘showcase’ welcoming old and new clients the HQ to show their latest range of boats and technologies in the rib boating world.

This was painted in the cold months with neon icons being an important part of their branding, we needed to plan painting hours around the temperature being over 5 degrees. (It was a chilly but fun job)

Dartmouth Academy

Primary section of the school.

Dartmouth - Devon

Brief…

A large 21meter wall runs down the length of the corridor in the primary section of the school. This was originally plain white and sterile, it needed to be fun and playful as the children use this space multiple times a day moving between classrooms, playgrounds and bathrooms. We decided on a theme of ‘River’ as the school is based at the bottom of the river Dart where it meets the sea.

I designed the mural to cover under the river, with frogs, fish, crab poo, fishing boats, herons, seals, the water cycle and even children dropping their wellies into the water… and so much more. Ideas from the children were always welcomed and added.

The mural was painted as a voluntary project, I donated the paint and all my time. I LOVED painting this and hearing all the children’s comments and surprise at each section/character being added. Let’s say the poo wasn’t planned but it was a fun cheeky addition. (Who doesn’t want to learn about animal poo)

This was painted over a few months in short bursts, due to fitting it around paid work.

Green table cafe

Christmas mural artwall

Dartington Estate - Devon

Brief…

Create an interactive woodland Christmas tree empty scene. This mural was part of a joint mural and pop up craft club event that I ran. Children later attended the cafe and made their own Christmas tree decorations to decorate the tree. I added dark teal base and mock festoon lights to give a magical winters look. Foliage coming in from the corners added to the feel of being on the beautiful Dartington estate during a frosty walk.

This was painted over a couple of evenings while the cafe was closed, which added a magical mystery to the mural.

Cider Press

Halloween

Dartington Estate - Devon

Brief…

Create an interactive ‘pop your head through’ board for their halloween pumpkin trail. A fun and silly illustration that we wanted to be interactive for a mixture of ages. Children were encouraged to get photos at the prop as part of the mix of events over the halloween period at the Cider Press.

This was painted one day.

Dartington hall & Cider Press

Easter

Dartington Estate - Devon

Brief…

Create an interactive ‘pop your head through’ board for their Easter egg hunt events. Two fun painted illustrations that we wanted to be interactive for a mixture of ages. Children were encouraged to get photos at the prop as part of the mix of events over the Easter period at the Cider Press.

The apples bunnies were for the Cider Press to link up the apples and the chickens were for Dartington hall

Ribeye boats

Storage cupboards mural

Dartmouth - Devon

Brief…

To create a slogan mural using Ribeyes secondary font. Originally these were white cupbaord storage doors. The team wanted to inject their slogan…

‘How would you like your Ribeye?

This slogan adds a fun element to one of the large workshops and is an eye catching addition for when clients tour the HQ. In an already busy workshop we wanted to keep this mural simple and stylised.

Private client

Portbury - Bristol

Brief…

Create a morning sea mist coastal view. During covid lockdown the client was missing the coast and wanted a huge over sized canvas to adorn their newly decorated home. Layers of watery mixes were used to create this dreamy view inspired by the Pembrokeshire coast. Due to covid restrictions this canvas frame was made and hand stretched.

This was painted one day.
